Newtown Primary are Allianz League Division 2 County Champions

Six teams arrived at the County grounds in Aughrim on Wednesday 30th to contest the division 2 county finals. The teams were Dunlavin, Hollywood, Bearna Chle, St.Fergals, Newtown Primary and Aughrim . The teams were divided into two groups with Newtown and Fergals emerging as victors in their respective groups.

The final was an exciting and highly contested affair with neither side giving an inch.

The standard was admirable and the contest was fought in great spirit and sportsmanship.

A late goal from Fergals levelled the match with a minute to go but Conor Odlums opportunist goal gave them a slim victory in what was a highly entertaining final.

Thanks to the County Board for providing us with their facilities and all the coaches and referees for a well organised event.  I’m sure all the children were delighted and proud to play in their county grounds.
