Good Turnout on Day 1 of Wicklow Times Shield

Body:

Day 1 of the Girls Wicklow Times Shield took place in a showery Roundwood on Wednesday last October 9th, despite the cold conditions the girls weren't deterred and showed great displays of skill and determination. There were 12 teams playing on the day, well done to Newtown, Scoil Chualann, Kilmacanogue, Moneystown, St. Fergals Bray, Kilcoole, Gaelscoil an Inbhir Mhóir, Holy Rosary Wicklow, St. Laurence's Roundwood and huge credit due to St. Joseph's Templerainey who entered three teams! There were some fine performances and some very well taken points, there will be tough competition and many contenders for trophies and medals next week! An 'Imreoir den Scoth' award was presented to the most talented player on each team, well done to those girls!
Many thanks to Roundwood for use of their facilities and to referees and teachers who helped out on the day!
Day 2 will take place next Wednesday October 16th in Roundwood at 11am. If your school did not enter a team on Day 1 you can still participate in Day 2. Please contact Claire Frawley in Kilcoole Primary School on 01-2876597.
