Rathcoyle victorious in the Allianz Tráth na gCeist

Body:

The annual Allianz tráth na gCeist was held on Thursday 21st November in the Brockagh Centre, Laragh.  There was a much better turnout than previous years with fifteen teams in total taking part.  Schools that were represented were Rathcoyle, St. Brigid’s Greystones, Talbotstown, St. Kevin’s 1&2, St. Cronan’s, Kilcoole 1&2, Templerainey 1&2, Kilmac 1&2, Moneystown, Rathdrum and Grangecon.  Jim O’Riordán welcomed everyone and did a fine job as quiz master on the night.  There were ten rounds in total based on the following themes: a picture round, GAA, Champions and finalists, All around Ireland, anagrams, sports, general knowledge, dingbats, GAA in Co. Wicklow and a final GAA round.  Teams were very competitive and the result was close right up to adding up the scores after the final round.  Before results were announced there was a raffle for all the children who had taken part with fantastic prizes such as a football signed by Colm Cooper, hurleys, sliotars, mouthguards, socks, grips and much more.  All children also were given refreshments.  After the final adding of scores Rathcoyle came in 1st place, Talbotstown in 2nd and Moneystown in 3rd.  Well done to all the children who took part and especially the winners who have fantastic GAA knowledge.  Thanks to Sean Stakelum for all his work with the quiz and to the Brockagh Centre for the use of their fine facilities.
