Allianz Camogie League Day Report and Photos
On Wednesday the 24th of September, Kilcoole GAA Grounds played host to the annual Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Autumn Camogie Blitz. Eight teams participated in the blitz these included Kilcoole, Newtownmountkennedy, Bearna Chlé, Scoil Chualann, Rathdrum Team 1 and Team 2, Moneystown and St. Fergal’s Bray. It was fantastic to have such a high level of participation on the day and this is testament to the dedication of teachers, trainers and pupils throughout Wicklow in promoting camogie. The blitz was run on a league basis, with each team playing 3 games within their group. The winners from Group 1 played the winners from Group 2, the second place in Group 1 played the second place in Group 2 etc. Games were closely contested however a strong Scoil Chualann side and a determined Rathdrum Team 1 reached the final. Scoil Chualann emerged as overall winner for a second consecutive year and each team presented a “Laoch na hImeartha” plaque to the player of the match. It was rewarding to have over 90 girls playing camogie on the day and we are already looking forward to the coming blitzes throughout the year. A sincere thank you to Kilcoole GAA for the use of their facilities, to the referees, teachers, trainers and pupils that helped to make the day such a success. Go raibh mile maith agaibh!
