Cumann na mBunscol Cornmarket Annual Awards Information

Body: 

Schools that promote Gaelic games in their schools are asked to submit entries to this section. Your work should show how you promote and participate in Gaelic games in your school. The work can be presented through articles /photographs and children’s work.

Each school that submits a project to this Category will receive an O’Neill’s Jersey in their County colours and a Certificate of participation.

There are 2 Categories as follows:

Category 5- School of the Year: Schools with a roll of 150 pupils or less

Category 6 - School of the Year: Schools with more than 150 pupils.

Prizes

Category 5 & 6 - First Placed Schools

  • Will be invited to Croke Park for a day where their award will be presented.

  • Stadium and Museum Tour for 30 pupils per school (Cost €6 per child to be paid by Cumann na mBunscol.)

  • 500 to each school towards bus transport

  • Lunch for 30 pupils and 3 staff – (Cost €7 per child approx. - and met by Cumann na mBunscol)

2nd and 3rd Placed Schools:

  • Will be presented with their awards in their own schools by a member of the National Committee.

  • Schools will be encouraged to bring along a county star on that day.

Closing Date for all Entries: 31st December 2014

Merit Award for Individual Schools. Level 2 Roll Out

This Merit Award will, be continued with the co-operation of County Committees, to be rolled out at AGMs in each County in 2014 - 2015.

 

This year will include Level 2 - there are three more levels to follow.

Certificate will be issued to each qualifying school

Qualifying criteria will be follows: Participation in 4 of the following

  • Boys/girls football

  • Mini 7’s

  • Camogie/hurling

  • Respect Initiative

  • Create a school-club link

  • Have an Allianz C. na mB. notice Board

  • Show evidence of using the GAA coaching materials.

Pat Trainor Hall of Fame Award

Category 1:

 

Pat Trainor Hall of Fame Award: This award was instigated to remember a friend and colleague Pat Trainor. The object of the award is to honour a fellow teacher who has given years of service to Gaelic Games promotion. The winning nominee will receive two All-Ireland tickets for year 2015.

Public Relations

Category 2 - Public Relations:

 

Coistí are asked to submit their PR work for the current year in this category. The folder could contain newspaper articles, magazine articles, fixtures booklet, annual publications promoting activities of Allianz Cumann na mBunscol. Websites could also be included but cannot replace newspaper articles. Regarding presentation all entries should consist of a book (scrapbook, presentation folder, ring binder etc.) in which reports, photographs etc. are pasted into the pages. Loose clippings are not acceptable.

Annual Publication

Category 3- Annual Publication: Simply submit your Annual Publication for inclusion in this award.

Promotion of Gaelic Games and Culture

Category 4

Committees/schools are asked to show their innovative work in promoting Gaelic games and culture. This can target a single area or a number of areas involving promotion of Gaelic Games and Culture including Football, Hurling, Camogie, Handball, Rounders, Respect Initiative, Go Games, Table Quiz etc. Submission will consist of:

  • Document outlining promotion work (1 – 2 A4 Pages - 500 words approximately)

  • Photographic evidence on CD or Memory Stick

Closing Date for all Entries: 31st December 2014

 

The winners in Category 1 – 4 will be presented on the Friday night before the AGM
