Sports Day Rules and Information

Just a few reminders regarding the forthcoming sports day in Charlesland Sport and Recreation Park on Wednesday 8th June:

The parade will begin at 10am sharp!! 

 

Be sure to have your school banner on show and the children marching along behind!  Remember there is a prize for the best turned out school! The parade will culminate with what we hope will be a rousing rendition of 'Amhrán na bhFiann' to mark the 1916 centenary year!
 

N.B NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED DUE TO THE RESTRICTED NUMBER OF LANES IN THE VENUE.

  • Parade begins at 10 a.m. sharp with races commencing immediately afterwards

Competitors must be under 8, 9, etc. on January 1st 2016

·     

In section 1 (Track) a competitor may compete in 1 event and the relay race.

·     

In section 2 (Field) a competitor may compete in 1 event only.

·     

A competitor may not compete in both sections.

  • Running shoes must be worn for all track events. No spikes or running shoes with spikes removed are permitted for these track events. Football boots are permitted for the tug o war.

·     

Long Puck, Long Kick, Long Jump and Ball Throw contests for girls are separate from boys.

·     

In the Long Kick event the ball is kicked from a dead ball position or from hand. Distance wins.

·     

In the Long Puck event the ball is hit from the hands or from the ground. Distance wins. Helmets must be worn.

·     

Competitors may have three attempts in these events.

  • Each school is responsible for the supervision and safety of their own participants and supporters
  • Each school is responsible for their own litter – please bring litterbags
  • Access to the toilet facilities will only be permitted under the strict supervision of an adult

·     

Every label must be marked with the competitor’s school, name, event and age group.

·     

Medals will be presented after each final.
