Go Games Hurling Blitz 3rd/4th Class

The new South branch of Cumann na mBunscol held a Go-Games hurling blitz for 3rd and 4th Classes in Pearse Park Arklow on 30th November. The schools that participated were Aughrim N.S., Bearna Chle N.S.,  Arklow B.N.S and Templerainey N.S. The weather was good and the pitches were in excellent condition. The boys started the games with ground hurling  and later lift and strike was introduced.  Many thanks to all the teachers who managed the teams and to the referees Michael Owens and Kathy Forde who performed excellently. Joe Connor, the Club school link coach, was  also there to help in the running of the blitz.

Girls Go Games Football Blitz

In Aughrim Community Grounds  a girls Go-Games football blitz was held with Kilcommon N.S.,  Carnew N.S. and Aughrim N.S. entering two teams.  The weather was good and another enjoyable morning of games were played.  Many thanks to  Aughrim G.A.A. club and especially Roisin Mann for their help in organising the blitz.

Girls 5th/6th Class Blitz

On a dull damp November morning three Arklow schools took part in the Cumann na mBunscol South Wicklow blitz in Pearse Park. The schools that took park were Gael Scoil x2, Bearna Chlé and St Joseph's. This dull damp day wasn't going to stop the girls taking part in the blitz. They fought hard for every ball and had good fun. A big thank you has to be said to all the schools for allowing the girls out of school and to the referees Terry Canavan and Pat Hickey. St Joseph's and Bearna Chlé were managed by our schools coaches Craig Kelly and Mick Carey, who both did a great job.

Boys 5th /6th Class Blitz

On 23rd November five schools turned out of the south Wicklow Schools blitz in Arklow. We had BNS x2, Gael Scoil x2, Brittas Bay x2, St Joseph’s and Bearna Chlé that all took part in the blitz. It was a wet morning but that didn’t put a stop to the schools turning up in force. The blitz was split into two groups with four teams in each. The school that finished 1st in their group would play in the Div 1 final, 2nd placed teams would play in the Div 2 final and so on.  All games were contested hard and in a sporting manner. I’d like to thank all the schools for taking part and all the referees that helped on the morning. Words of thanks to the Wicklow county development officers who also help run the event, Paul Garrigan and Colm Gaskin. It was great to see so many taking part in the blitz and having fun.
