Mini Game Success for the Garden County

Body:

In what was a rather mundane day for Wicklow GAA on Sunday 27th May there was one ray of hope that shone on the day, that being the display of our primary school children at half time in the Mini Games.  Although apprehensive prior to throw in our boys displayed all the attributes that are needed to perform at the top level. Their teamwork, skill level and ‘never say die’ attitude were very evident in this close encounter. An inexperienced team took to what was a very large pitch, in front of a crowd of over 11,000 patrons and soon settled into the rhythm of the game. A counter attacking game, which ebbed and flowed, saw our boys dominate the Dubs for large portions of the game, eventually coming out on top by a goal.  We in Allianz Cumann na mBunscol do sincerely hope that this Wicklow team got a taster of what is needed to perform on the national stage and we'll hopefully see them again in 2028 playing in the main game.  A huge 'thank you' goes to the players for showing such a keen interest in representing their county as well as to their parents who very kindly co-operated with all demands made of them.  The Wicklow Team on the day was: Seán McHugh (Moneystown NS), Seán Byrne (Kilcoole NS), Seán McLeavey (Kilcoole NS), Seán Meyler (St. Laurence's, Greystones), Conal Butler (St. Cronan's Bray), James Healy (St.Cronan's Bray), Daniel Connerty (St. Kevin's Greystones), Jack Ward (St. Kevin's Greystones), Oscar Durston (Moneystown NS) and Robert Moore (St.Laurence's Greystones).
