Bravo to the 3rd and 4th Class Boys Footballers who turned out in style!

Body:

The first outing of the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Boys outdoor season in North/East Wicklow started on Wednesday 10th October. It was the turn of the 3rd and 4th class boys. Their first football outing of the year was a great success and the 'Participation Blitz', held in Bray Emmets GAA Grounds, had over 300 boys/27 teams enjoying Gaelic Football.

With Storm Callum brewing in the Atlantic the weather was what was hoped for and the boys took to the fields of play with gusto, and as the sun began to shine, so too did the players, with some great displays of skill and teamwork.

Even though it was a 3rd/4th class tournament we had a mixture of novice and experience and it was great to see so many new players experience structured games for the first, bravo all!

A special word of 'Thanks' goes to Dave Barry (Bray Emmets), Michael Ó Murchú (Kilcoole) and Garrett Doyle, our Wicklow GDA, for firstly, organising the facilities and having the grounds 'match ready' for the children and secondly, for overseeing the fixtures and ensuring the schedule ran smoothly.

To all the Young Whistlers from the various schools around North Wicklow, go raibh maith agaibh! A very competent display was had by all; onwards and upwards!

Lastly, to the teachers/coaches, parents, but especially the children, who attended Wednesday's blitz, a very hearty 'WELL DONE', an excellent display of sportsmanship all round.

The 27 participating teams were from the following schools: St. Laurence's Greystones (3 teams), Kilmacanogue (3), St. Patrick's Wicklow Town (2), St. Peter's Bray (1), Ashford (3), Gaelscoil Uí Cheadaigh Brí Chulann (1), Moneystown (1), Newtown (1), St. Brigid's Greystones (1), Kilcoole (1), Scoil Chulann Brí Chulann (1), Gaelscoil Chill Mhantáin (1) & Gaelscoil Clocha Liath (2), St. Fergal’s Bray (1), Greystones Educate Together (3), Wicklow Educate Together (1), St. Patrick’s Curtlestown (1).
